Mississippi man charged with threatening Jackson County judge

A Cleveland, Mississippi, man is in Jackson County jail, accused of threatening a Chancery Court judge.
Jackson County Sheriff John Ledbetter said 38-year-old Jeffery Miles was arrested July 19 in Illinois and returned to Jackson County on Monday.
He has been charged with making terrorist threats and retaliation against a public servant.
He is in the Jackson County jail and bond was set at $100,000 on the retaliation charge. He was denied bond on the terrorist threat charge during an initial hearing held Tuesday afternoon.
Miles allegedly left messages on Chancer Judge Mark Maples’ office phone, threatening to harm him if he didn’t issue a favorable ruling in an Ocean Springs case the judge was hearing. The Sheriff’s Office declined to specify which case was involved, saying only that it is ongoing.
