Mississippi legislative session ends

The legislative session has ended. Here are the big bills that passed.

A bill that allows people who donate to food pantries to get a tax cut passed.

Medicaid postpartum care was extended to a full year.

$100 million will be going directly to public education. Feminine hygiene products will also now be available for free in middle and high school.

Bill 1020 also passed, which allows some courts to appoint officials instead of having an election.

This was Representative Jeffrey Hulum III’s first legislative session. He explains how you can be more involved next session. “Make sure that you reach out to your local elective officials, your state level elected officials. They are elected to push the agenda for you and their constituents and fight for the will of the people. Not a certain agenda, not an organization, but the will of the people.”
