Mississippi House Speaker White creates six new select committees

Mississippi House Speaker Jason White announced the creation of six new select committees tasked with making policy proposals for the 2027 legislative session.

Those committees include ones focused on governmental efficiency, property taxes, redistricting, judicial operations, consolidation, and specialty schools.

Jackson County Representative Hank Zuber will serve as the co-chair of the Governmental Efficiency Committee.

White says the creation of these committees comes on the heels of policy success from previous select committees.
