Mississippi Highway Patrol Labor Day Enforcement period begins

Expect extra police presence if you’re going to be out on the road this Labor Day Weekend.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol’s Labor Day enforcement period started this morning at 6 and will be ending on September 4th at midnight.

Drivers can expect an increase of state troopers on the highways, enforcing the speed limit, checking for seat belts, and also conducting safety checkpoints.

This increased enforcement aims to promote road safety, reduce accidents, and ensure that drivers are responsible on the highways. Mississippi State Trooper Cal Robertson said, “So, our mission from top to bottom is public safety, right? So, we’re, we’re gonna have extra troopers out there on the roadway for public safety and monitoring those people who may be causing traffic issues and remember all it takes is one crash and I-10 is gonna have problems for several hours to get straightened back out.”

Be safe during the Labor Day Weekend and remember to not drive impaired and always have a designated driver.
