Mississippi Highway Patrol holiday enforcement numbers

Mississippi Highway Patrol was busy over the Memorial Holiday Weekend.

There were nearly 9,000 citations and 170 arrests for impaired driving across Mississippi in the five-day enforcement period.

A total of 13 DUIs were issued by Troop K in South Mississippi.

Troopers across the state also gave out nearly a thousand citations as part of the Click It or Ticket campaign which continues through Sunday.

There were also three fatalities over the holiday weekend including one in Stone County Tuesday. The other two were in Yazoo and Holmes counties.

In all, the enforcement period finished with fewer citations than last year.
