Mississippi Heroes surprises child battling kidney failure
A local seven-year-old battling kidney failure was surprised this morning with tons of gifts and a special visitor thanks to Mississippi Heroes.
Seven-year-old Bella Seal has had a tough road. She was born January 2014 premature and has been on dialysis since she was two-years-old. Now, Bella is dealing with stage five kidney failure and having to undergo dialysis for 14 hours a day.
To help get Bella in the holiday spirit, Mississippi Heroes surprised Bella and honored her mother, Desiree Seal. “She is my hero because she taught me more love, more patience.”
Desiree nominated her daughter to be honored as a Mississippi Hero, not knowing she would also be recognized for all her hard work as a caregiver. MS Heroes President Eric Alvarez said, “We like to recognize them for everything that they do every day. Most caregivers, they sacrifice their time, careers, profession, and they never take time for themselves.”
Seal says Bella is her hero because she never complains, is always full of smiles, and never worries about herself. She is always checking on everyone else. “If it were me in her position, I would have thrown in the towel a long time ago. I mean, there is no way that I could go through the things that she has been through.”
One of Bella’s wishes was to meet Santa and not only did she get to meet him, she also received tons of gifts.
Seal says although Bella still has a long way to go, it’s days like this that make it all worth it. “Something special always happens that makes it better.”
“I had the best Christmas I ever had.”
