Mississippi Gulf Coast Kennel Club hosts Paws under the Oak

In Gulfport, the Mississippi Gulf Coast Kennel Club brought the dogs out for Paws under the Oaks.

Dog owners from around the Coast set up shop at Centennial Plaza for the third annual event. Various breeds put their skills to the test with demonstrations.

Owners were also able to learn more about the resources available to them and their pups.

The event also featured a costume contest for those four-legged friends. Dog owner Emily Miller said, “It’s the perfect socialization opportunity. So, a lot of dogs nowadays, especially since COVID, aren’t socialized well enough, and so they get really skittish in public. So, a really chill event like this is the perfect place to bring your dog, socialize them, let them see other dogs, other people, and have a good time. “

Dog owner Hayley Bosarge said, “She wasn’t a fan of the pup cup, but I think it’s because I treated her with a chicken nugget on the way here. She just wants to see some friends and see what’s going on, maybe get a couple art pieces, take them home.”

The Kennel Club recognizes over 200 breeds of dogs. Visit mgckc.org for more information.
