Mississippi Gulf Coast high school soccer state championship matchups
Friday was the start of championship matchups in Jackson, MS for a handful of high school coast soccer teams.
The St. Patrick lady Irish have been crowned as the Class 1 back-to-back state champions after defeating Tupelo Christian 7-0. The game was called due to mercy rule with 29 minutes. An incredible performance from the Irish and a big congratulations to St. Patrick on winning state for the 2nd season in a row.
The St. Stanislaus Rock-A-Chaws were also in action for a state title against St. Andrews. Unfortunately, the boys team could not bring home the state championship trophy after falling in their game 2-0. That does not take away from the great season that they had – a congratulations is deserved for making it as far as they did.
There are three matchups on Saturday involving coast high schools with the first being Bay high vs New Albany at 2:00 P.M. The Tigers are looking for back-to-back state championships and their third in school history.
Next up is the George County high school girls team against Saltillo at 4:00. The lady rebels are looking to bring home their first state championship ever.
Rounding out the championship matchups is the Long Beach boys team who will face Center Hill at 6:00 P.M. The Bearcats are looking to accomplish capture their fourth state title in a row, something the senior class says they are hungry to accomplish.
