Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College announces new volleyball program ahead of 2025 season

Mississippi gulf Coast Community College recently announces they are adding volleyball to their lineup of varsity sports.

The Bulldogs will being play in the fall of 2025 and have already found their first ever head coach. Shayna Walsh has been chosen to start the new program as the first ever volleyball coach at MGCCC. She is no stranger to coaching and in her most recent stop she as in the head coach at Oak Grove high school for three seasons. She says that she is excited and eager to continue giving back to the sport that has given her so much since she was young.

“Volleyball has been my life since I can remember,” she said. “My mom was my coach since I was eight years old and, you know, has been my life forever. I can’t say enough about this sport. It has done so much for me in my life and I’m excited to just give back to it.”

Walsh explained that she is excited to make the jump from high school to junior college. She added that she is eager to begin the recruiting process of the talent that the Mississippi Gulf coast and surrounding areas has to offer.
