Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber packs casino for annual meeting
The chamber that runs over 40 events on the Coast has a new president.
Six hundred members of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce filled a Beau Rivage ballroom for their annual meeting in Biloxi this afternoon. The meeting is a chance for the chamber to discuss new goals, network, and transition into a new membership. The chamber focuses on improving the community’s businesses.
As past and present board members were introduced and thanked, the role of chamber president was officially passed down to Mississippi Power Company’s Tommy Murphy. “I’m very proud and excited about this year. We’ve got a lot of plans for the year. One of the things we hear from our members is they want to know more about technology, so we’ve got something in store this year to try to help educate where they can apply this technology toward their businesses. And we’re also focused very much on our members. So what they want, what they don’t want, and what their needs are so we’ll try to focus our 2017 program of work to support those members.”
As a grand finale to the meeting, Coast veteran and business leader Jerry Levens received the 2017 Pat Santucci Spirit of the Gulf Coast award for his involvement with many organizations all over the Coast.
