Mississippi Gaming Commission to hear site proposal for Biloxi casino

The Mississippi Gaming Commission will hear from a Biloxi developer on Thursday who will make its application for site approval for a new casino.

RW Development will present its plan for site approval on Thursday at a meeting in Jackson.

The company will have 20 minutes to present its application, followed by 30 minutes for opposition.

In March, the state Supreme Court cleared the way for the site application when it upheld a Chancery judge’s decision that allowed RW to develop a public/private pier south of Veterans Avenue. The state disagreed and asked the courts to declare it had sole and exclusive authority to lease tidelands.

With the state high court’s decision, RW Development was then able to move forward with its plans to build a casino on property near Veterans Avenue.
