Mississippi Gaming Commission Chairman Al Hopkins dies
Mississippi Gaming Commission Chairman Al Hopkins died yesterday after a battle with cancer. He was 81.
Hopkins was in the third term as chairman of the Mississippi Gaming Commission, having been first appointed in 2015.
He also was a decorated member of the Mississippi National Guard, retiring as a major general as the assistant adjutant general.
He was also the former president of the Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce. In 1977, he opened his own law firm in Gulfport.
Hopkins worked both the Girl Scouts of Gulf Pines Council and the Spanish Trail Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
