Mississippi families receive financial bump

Across Mississippi, families in need are receiving a financial bump to help them get through the holiday season.

More than 1,500 low-income Mississippi families are set to receive a one-time payment of $1,000 from the Mississippi Department of Human Services.

Households must qualify for the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Program to be eligible.

The funding comes from the American Rescue Plan Act with the first round of payments going out last week.
