Mississippi Dept. of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks reminds residents to look out for snakes

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks posted a reminder Monday.

Springtime in Mississippi means the birds are chirping, flowers are blooming, and the snakes are becoming more active.

As the warmer days approach, snakes are often found basking in sunny areas as they need their body temperatures to rise to become active to find mates and search for food.

If you spend time outdoors, pay attention to your surroundings to avoid a surprising encounter with a snake.
