Mississippi Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo returns to the Coast

75 years and counting, a 4th of July tradition returns to the Coast this weekend!

Each year, the Mississippi Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo offers a little something for everyone. The carnival rides and games are already set up at Jones Park in Gulfport.

There will also be live music and fishing.

Anglers of all ages will be competing in an abundance of fishing categories, looking to take home first place along with some cash prizes.

The four-day event kicks off Saturday with the children’s fishing rodeo. More than 200 kids have already signed up.

This year, the Mississippi Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo is adding a new twist to the family fun. Weigh Master Donnie Armes said, “We got something new for them to play with. We’re having a scavenger hunt setup that will give them a little piece of paper and we’ll have stuff on some of the vendors, eight different little questions they’ll answer, and they’ll come back and we’ll give them a little prize for it. It’s good for adults and kids.”

Gates open Saturday at noon and close at 10:30 p.m. Gate admission is $5 per person from 12 to 2 p.m. and is good for all day entry. From 2 p.m. to closing, it is $10.
