Mississippi Coastal Stewardship Program tracking bird movements
The Mississippi Coastal Stewardship Program is providing an update to its tracking project.
The stewardship has installed three permanent motus stations to track bird movement this year at Biloxi Beach, Lynn Meadows, and Markham in Gulfport.
Three temporary stations were set up during breeding season.
Least tern tags have been detected at six locations as well as by stations in Grand Bay and Dauphin Island.
Thousands of GPS locations were collected on black skimmers; some being traced all the way to Guatemala.
