Mississippi Coast Model Railroad Museum ready for the holidays

Santa doesn’t always ride a sleigh. Sometimes he takes a train. No worries, there’s room for everyone aboard the Mississippi Coast Model Railroad Museum this holiday season.

All aboard. The Mississippi Coast Model Railroad Museum is ready to take you on a magical ride through a Christmas wonderland. “There’s a staff that starts putting up lights starting in October. It’s a phenomenal time. It’s very magical with Christmas and trains and what they can offer to families.”

Marketing director Katherine Sutton says the museum brings joy to thousands of visitors, during the holiday season. Not only does the museum shine bright seven nights a week, there’s also special events for great causes going on throughout December.

Sutton, who also serves as the executive director for local organization Mississippi Heroes, says both groups are coming together for a holiday party, celebrating every day family and professional caregivers. “They give so much to others. They sacrifice so much. They’re kind of the hidden heroes of the world, especially the family caregivers. Nobody really knows what they do or the sacrifices they make. Our mission is to celebrate them. We are excited to host this Christmas party for them.”

The Mississippi Coast Model Railroad Museum has something for everyone to enjoy, but if you’re looking for the best seat in the house, look no further than the train, itself. “With over two million lights it’s just magical. We have the riding trains and there’s just so much to do. You can’t get enough Christmas.”
