Mississippi Coast Model Railroad Museum held open house for new South Station

The Mississippi Coast Model Railroad Museum in Gulfport showcased their new South Station with an open house.

The museum was outgrowing their space at the North Station and wanted to add more Lego figures and train figures to the museum.

The South Station has an additional 20,000 square feet of modeled trains, over 200 model trains with displays, and over one million more legos.

The South Station will also offer a STEM program so people can get an in-depth understanding into the building structure of trains.

Marketing Director Katherine Sutton tells News 25 the difference in the south and north stations. “So, our displays in the South Station are a little more 3D. You can see we have this nice mountain display. So, a lot of the displays in the north station that we currently have are tables. They are just kind of flat except for outside. So, we are excited to add the additional mountain display. So, much more detail and larger displays because we have more room.”

The museum is based off of donations and wants everyone in the community to come out, enjoy the museum, and donate a minimum of $5.
