Mississippi casino revenue
Casinos in Mississippi’s river region won less from gamblers in April while casinos along the state’s Gulf Coast won more.
State Revenue Department figures show gamblers lost $175 million last month, down three percent from $181 million in April 2016. April is traditionally a middling month for Mississippi casinos, compared to busy March fueled by income tax refunds.
Receipts fell at the 16 river casinos fell a steep nine percent to $76 million as long term revenue declines continue there.
The 12 coastal casinos posted winnings of $99 million, up from $98 million in April 2016.
Revenue is down about three percent statewide in the first four months of 2017 and is basically flat over the last 12 months.
Numbers exclude Choctaw Indian Casinos, which do not report winnings to the state.
