Mississippi Casino Operators Slot Tournament

Usually casinos on our Coast are competing for players. Today, they all banded together for a good cause.
On Thursday, the second annual Casino Operators Slot Tournament had representatives from nearly every Coast casino at the Beau Rivage, all raising money for the Salvation Army. The casinos all donated money but also tried their hands at the slots. The winner becomes the host for next year’s event.
Salvation Army Major Gary Sturdivant tells News 25, the $7,000 raised from this event helped kick off their Angel Tree campaign. “Oh, it’s Christmas time in the city! You know, we can start singing ‘Silver Bells.’ It’s just the most wonderful time of the year and for the Beau Rivage to actually choose the Salvation Army as their charity this year, it’s just overwhelming. I cannot imagine what it’s like to wake up on Christmas morning and there just be nothing there. I just don’t know how that feels. I keep telling people that I wish I could be in every home on Christmas morning to watch that child open up that gift.”
The winner of this year’s slot tournament was Susan Varnes from Treasure Bay. Treasure Bay will host next year’s tournament and choose the charity that will receive the proceeds.
