Mississippi Bicentennial South Parade

In almost two weeks, a party hundreds of years in the making, the Mississippi Bicentennial South Celebration, will take over the Gulf Coast.
On March 31st through April 1st South Mississippi will show off what we have to offer. There is a laundry list of events going on, but one of the biggest will be the celebration’s parade. It will feature everything from the U.S. Navy band to a pirate ship followed by classic cars.
The most important part of the parade will be the showing of the cities. Parade chairman Mark Duffy said, “They will be bringing their banners, their flags, their VIPs, and I think it’s going to make an excellent showing for what the Gulf Coast has for this state.”
City of Gulfport Public Information Officer Chris Vignes said, “We’ve had a lot of interest from South Mississippi. From the food vendors to the children activities to the Salute the Military. This is a free ticketed event for Friday and Saturday. Look at the schedule, see what you can do, volunteer. That’s the main thing people can help. Be a part of the process. Be a part of Mississippi’s 200th year of statehood.”
