Mississippi awarded nearly $206 million for rural healthcare

JACKSON, Miss. (WXXV)- The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services awarded Mississippi nearly $206 million to strengthen healthcare in rural communities throughout the state.

This comes after the state submitted its plan last month for the Rural Health Transformation program.

According to the governor, the plan was focused on improving healthcare and patient outcomes, strengthening the rural health workforce and ensuring sustainable access to care for Mississippians who need it.

The goal of the plan is to make sure every rural Mississippian has access to high quality healthcare services, supporting increased access points, and healthier communities across the state by 2031.
