Mississippi awarded federal grant to address unemployment gaps
The U.S. Department of Commerce’s economic development administration announced a federal grant awarded to Mississippi.
The strategy development grant focuses on addressing unemployment gaps within the state.
The grant will fund local planning activities that increase labor force participation for ages between 25 and 54.
The activities will be over an 18-mnoth period and will evaluate barriers of labor force and skills attainment in high unemployment regions.
Across the state, they will help identify economic distress and support infrastructure while complementing the education and training for high-demand careers.
