Mississippi Association of Chief of Police Conference

Police chiefs from across the state of Mississippi have come to the Gulf Coast for the annual Mississippi Association of Chief of Police summer conference.

The event is being held at the Golden Nugget and has been held in Biloxi for the last 22 years. Biloxi Police Chief John Miller tells News 25 this conference is where chiefs learn anything new going on in law enforcement and get updated on changes to state or federal laws as well as a chance to bounce ideas off other departments.  “If there are issues in North Mississippi that may not be in South Mississippi and vice versa this is an opportunity for us to get together and say ‘hey, have you seen this? This is how we are handling it’ or ‘do you have any suggestions on how we can deal with this? We are having these problems.’ So, it’s a great learning time and a lot of camaraderie and it gives us all an opportunity to get together and network.”

There are over 200 police chiefs in attendance this year.
