Mississippi Aquarium throwing Pollinator Party Saturday

It’s National Pollinator Week. In honor of the annual event, the Mississippi Aquarium has decided to throw a pollinator party Saturday.

The aquarium’s butterfly garden is located beside its founder’s wall. They’re hopeful party guests will spread their wings and learn more about the delicate insects.

There will be a variety of guest educators like Rachel Bond with Pine Hill Nursey in Pass Christian. She’ll have a pop-up tent on the plaza educating and selling native plants.

As habitat loss is threatening our pollinators, one way you can help is by adding to your own garden. Bond said, “Seventy-five percent of the food crops we grow in the country, pollinators pollinate those. So, they’re very important for our food and life as we know it. So, we want to continue to promote their health and their well being and their habitat. So, they can keep helping us in return.”

Admission to the pollinator party is included with your general admission ticket.
