Mississippi Aquarium progress
Progress is being made toward the Mississippi Aquarium in downtown Gulfport.
The project announced a month ago they had a general contractor to start working. The contractor has been onsite and has started to put the foundation of the building together.
Chris Vignes with City of Gulfport Public Affairs said, “It’s very exciting you know. This is a great time for Gulfport and the Mississippi Gulf Coast to see construction taking place on the property to see containers, to see movement. It’s a dream. It is something that we are very excited about. We look forward to hearing more information from the developers and the Gulfport Redevelopment Commission. If you ride by the property right now you will see there is activity going on, you will see more activity coming up and we look forward to more details.”
The aquarium still plans to open either at the end of 2019 or the beginning of 2020.
