Mississippi Aquarium opening new exhibit Friday
The new ‘Changing Tides’ exhibit at the Mississippi Aquarium opens Friday.
Local leaders and aquarium officials cut the ribbon on the exhibit earlier today, ahead of the big grand opening.
This will be the aquarium’s first major expansion since opening in 2020. Twenty-three new habitats will be featured as well as more than 120 new species.
The environments of a kelp forest, tropical jungle, and warm water oceans will be some of the featured spaces.
Mississippi Aquarium CEO Kurt Allen says the new exhibit is all about community. “Our pillars are education, conservation, and community. So, this does really allow our community to come in and learn about some interesting critters along with some conservation things you can do in your own back yard. So, it’s really us wrapping our arms around our Mississippi Gulf Coast.”
The ‘Changing Tides’ exhibit will open to the public August 25th.
