Mississippi Aquarium asks public to help name Kemp’s Ridley turtle
The Mississippi Aquarium has welcomed a new adult female Kemp’s Ridley Sea Turtle to its Aquatic Wonders exhibit and they want the public to help name her.
The aquarium has rehabilitated and released more than 60 turtles into the Mississippi Sound since 2020.
In recognition of their hard work with these turtles, the aquarium was selected by NOAA Fisheries and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services to receive one of ten adult non-releasable Kemp’s Ridley Sea turtles for permanent exhibit. Mississippi Aquarium Public Relations and Communications Jeff Clark said, “We have done a lot helping the population. So, now it’s great for us to have one and it’s here. It’s going to be a part of our permanent exhibit.”
