Mission Group from Maine spends a week in Biloxi
BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV) – Back Bay Mission is an organization dedicated to supporting individuals facing poverty along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. They often host different mission groups across the country, and this week’s volunteers come all the way from West Parish Congregational Church in Bethel, Maine. For many of these volunteers, it’s their first time venturing this far south in the country.
Throughout their week here in South Mississippi, the group was tasked with different things like construction needs, soup kitchens and food pantries, and sorting clothes donations.
Back Bay Mission welcomes these volunteer groups as a way to introduce outsiders to the unique culture and pressing needs of Mississippi. They have a “simple mission: to strengthen neighborhoods, seek justice, and transform lives.”
