Missing George County man found dead

A 70-year-old man missing for a week has been found dead, George County Sheriff’s Officials confirmed Monday.

Larry James Spicer went missing last Monday in Lucedale. His family said he had a medical condition that could impair his judgment.

Sheriff Keith Havard said in a press release that Spicer was found about 12:30 p.m. Sunday in a wooded area south of Lucedale city limits. A private citizen found Spicer near the Big Cedar Creek watershed.

The citizen contacted George County Sheriff’s Office and Lucedale detectives.

Jackson County K-9, George County Search & Rescue, Lucedale Police Department, Mississippi Highway Patrol and Mississippi Bureau of Investigation assisted in the search for Spicer.

Havard also said he and his staff thanked all the private citizens who spent their time to help in the search.
