Missing Baton Rouge woman discovered in Biloxi
After several days of searching, a woman reported missing from Baton Rouge last month was found safe. Sixty-seven year-old Linda Thompson was found this morning in a home under construction in Biloxi.
News 25’s Gina Tomlinson spoke with the man who found her there.
It’s safe to say Biloxi Resident Keith Fayard had an interesting Monday morning. A Baton Rouge woman that was reported missing over a week ago turned up inside a home he has under construction on Lucius Street. “She looked to be okay. She talked good and I didn’t see any issues with her whatsoever. Then I said, ‘are you hungry?’”
Unaware the woman he found in the bedroom of the house he’s building was 67-year-old Linda Thompson of Baton Rouge, Fayard says he went over to his home across the street to get her something to eat. After a phone call to a friend, Fayard realized he had found the woman multiple authorities have been searching for.
Thompson was last seen at her Baton Rouge home October 27th. Her abandoned vehicle was found the same day near Interstate 10 in D’Iberville. “Is your name Linda? She said yes. Thompson? Yes. I said, ‘okay, people are looking for you.”
After Fayard gave Thompson some food and water, she was checked out by paramedics. According to Biloxi police, she’s in good health. Fayard says Thompson had a Bible with her. “She had to be somewhere for the last eight days. She didn’t know where she was at. She didn’t know where she stayed or anything like that. Other than that, she was just wandering around she said.”
The house is well over one hundred miles from Baton Rouge and nearly three miles away from the interstate where Thompson’s car was found. Fayard says he doesn’t exactly know how she wound up here, he’s just happy she was found safe. “Divine providence. I just feel like God sends people to certain people and I just feel like she ended up here today.”
