Miss Mississippi Pageant 2017
For the third year in a row, a Mississippi State University student is crowned Miss Mississippi.
Saturday night concluded the Miss Mississippi Pageant. Anne Elizabeth Buys was crowned and selected to represent the Magnolia State. She is a native of Vicksburg and was selected from a field of 44 young women in the annual Miss Mississippi Pageant.
This pageant is a nonprofit corporation and funds go towards grant scholarships to the participants. “They mean the world and so much to my father. I mean, it’s paid for my education and being in this organization, the fact that I’ll be able to continue to attend school debt free is just overwhelming and I’m so thankful for this organization and what it allows women to accomplish so that they can graduate debt free and be able to obtain an education,” said Buys.
Buys will represent the state in the Miss America Pageant, the largest scholarship organization for women in the world. Miss America is held in Atlantic City in September.
