Miss Mississippi competition begins in Vicksburg

Preliminary competitions in the Miss Mississippi Pageant begin today.

Pageant festivities kicked off with the traditional Miss Mississippi Parade in Vicksburg last night.

There will be preliminary competitions at 7 each night this week. The finals will be televised statewide this Saturday at 8 p.m. and will feature the top ten contestants.

A total of 38 contestants are competing to become Miss Mississippi 2023 including Biloxi’s own Katelyn Perry.  “I’ve been competing since I was 12 years old and it’s made me the person I’ve always dreamed of being. I absolutely love this organization, everything that it stands for. So, getting to be Miss Mississippi and getting to give back to the organization — and also give back to our amazing state, travel around and meet new people — it would be a lifelong dream come true.”

The winner of Miss Mississippi will have the opportunity to represent the state and compete at Miss America this September.
