MHSAA 2023-25 reclassification adds Class 7A

The results are in, Mississippi High School Activities Association adding Class 7A for the first time. And six Coast schools making the cut, based on grades 9-11 enrollment: Ocean Springs, Gulfport, Biloxi, Harrison Central, D’Iberville, and St. Martin.

Seven local schools in 6A. Those being Hancock, West Harrison, Pascagoula, George County, Pearl River Central, Picayune, and Long Beach. So, George County might be the odd team out like we’ve seen in the past.

In 5A, it’s Gautier, East Central, Vancleave, and Stone.

Down in the 4A ranks, Pass Christian, Poplarville, Bay High, and Moss Point.

3A consisting of St. Stanislaus, St. Patrick and Our Lady Academy.

Finally, Resurrection Catholic still holding down in Class 1A.

And here’s a quick look ahead at the high school football state championships, taking place at M.M. Roberts Stadium, starting Friday, December 2nd with 3A, 1A, and 5A at 11 a.m., 3 p.m., and 7 p.m. respectively. Same times Saturday, December 3rd for 4A, 2A, and 6A.
