MHP trooper struck at safety checkpoint

A Mississippi Highway Patrol trooper was seriously injured Friday night in Bay St. Louis.

MHP spokesman Cal Robertson said the trooper was conducting a safety checkpoint as part of the Memorial Day campaign. He was parked on Highway 90 about 10 p.m. when a vehicle traveling west hit the trooper.

The trooper was seriously injured and was air-lifted to an out-of-state hospital.
