MGCCC running back Cam Thomas offered by Nicholls State

Here come the offers for Cam Thomas, the sophomore running back from Mississippi Gulf Coast, getting the call from Nicholls State, following one of the best regular season performances in the country.

The former News 25 Student-Athlete of the Week out of Picayune, third in the nation with 754 yards and tied for sixth with eight touchdowns.

Back in September, he broke the school record for longest run, 99 yards to the house against East Mississippi, the same team his Bulldogs are ready to face in a semi-final rematch of the MACCC playoffs after losing to the Lions 48-45 in heartbreaking fashion. “Really, I wish we had finished, like we weren’t preaching finish back then how we’re preaching it now. But for sure, I wish we would’ve finished more. We would’ve finished, really. A lot of chatter. A lot of people happy. It’s way different from the regular season. It’s big-time, big-time football now, so everybody is just coming in like it’s a business, doing their job.”

The Bulldogs and Lions kick things off from A.L. May Memorial Stadium at 5 p.m. Saturday.
