MGCCC opens ‘Marking Seams’ exhibit on Perkinston campus
Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Perkinston campus opened an art exhibit for one of the school’s very own instructors.
The Marking Seams art exhibit was created by MGCCC Graphic Design Technology instructor Tracy Williams and was officially opened to the public.
The opening night began at the School of Visual and Performing Arts with a performance by the MGCCC Woodwind Ensemble and then followed by a gallery talk by Williams about her work.
Williams earned a bachelor of fine art in fashion illustration and says most of her work is inspired by fashion and design.
She says when she first saw her exhibit displayed, she was filled with a sense of joy in her work. “When this was up and I got to come in here yesterday and Daniels was like ‘tell me if you like the way this is’ and I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh! I really know how to draw!’ I’ve been drawing forever and I have two college degrees, but when you see it on the wall it’s like, ‘yeah! I know how to draw!'”
Williams’ exhibit will be on display at the Visual Arts Gallery from now until March 31st.
