MGCCC offering free welding program

One program at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College is offering a 15-week welding program. The classes are offered at no cost.

The school says the program is being offered to prepare students for entry-level employment. Students will be able to gain much needed experience and be exposed to advanced classes, if they qualify.

Racheal Kunz, the associate vice president of Workforce Solutions, explains more about the program and how it benefits anyone who applies. “The Workforce Welding Program Gulf Coast is a 15-week comprehensive program that allows students to come in and train in different welding processes such as short-arc metal welding as well as flex-arc metal welding. We also offer pipe welding courses in the evening. We have openings right now at our Jackson County location and a few in Gulfport. The best thing is, it is no cost. Students do not have to pay any college tuition or college-related fees to enter the program.”

All classes are running Monday through Thursday. The classes are open entry and open exit, meaning no one is bound to the class.
