MGCCC mourns the loss of student athlete Landon Perry

PERKINSTON, Miss. (WXXV)-The Stone County community is mourning the loss of a Gulf Coast Community College soccer player killed in an accident Sunday in Perkinston.
Stone County Coroner Wayne Flurry says 18-year-old Landon Perry was hit by a car as he was driving an electric scooter on Perkinston-Silver Run Road.
Perry was a freshman member of the soccer program and a D’Iberville native.
Perry’s coach Chris Handy released a statement Monday on his death, saying he was a beloved member of the team and always wanted to be the best player and person he could possibly be.
College officials say they will offer resources to students and families in the wake of this tragedy.
The Stone County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the cause of the crash.
