MGCCC mourns loss of long-time Professor Charles L. Sullivan

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College is mourning the loss of a beloved professor.

Charles Sullivan died Saturday at the age of 80. Sullivan was one of the institution’s longest-tenured faculty members, spending more than 50 years at MGCCC.

In his time there he become a renowned author and historian, writing numerous books on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Over the last two decades, Sullivan served as the first and only archivist for the institution. The MGCCC Alumni Foundation had this to say on Sullivan’s passing: “His commitment to his students and willingness to share his knowledge are qualities that made him a remarkable educator. It is evident he left a lasting impact on campus and the people who had the privilege of knowing him. His love for teaching and dedicate to go above and beyond are a testament to his legacy.”
