MGCCC hosts annual Holiday Hobnob and Scholarship Presentation

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s culinary and pastry arts program put on a holiday tasting for the community.

MGCCC’s annual Holiday Hobnob is an opportunity for culinary students to show off their creativity, allowing the community to taste some holiday delicacies and pastries.

The students really stuck with the holiday theme. Dishes were prepared by pastry and culinary students. Students curated pumpkin spice panna cotta, special dressing croquettes, bourbon meatballs, and much more. Chef Lauren Howard said, “What comes away the most surprising to me is the reaction people have to the quality of the food. The fact that our students already at this level, a majority of the students actually participating in this competition tonight are first years. So, they’re very green and the quality of the product is I think what’s surprising to a lot of people.”

Live music was performed by the MGCCC Perkinston campus jazz band and guests came dressed in their best holiday attire. You had to be 21 and older to enter and the $35 entry fee went to a good cause.

This is the fifth Holiday Hobnob and a portion of the proceeds go to support student scholarships.
