MGCCC cooking up the world’s largest jambalaya
Picture the largest pot of jambalaya you’ve ever seen and that won’t even come close to what MGCCC is cooking up.
MGCCC and the campus’ seven food pantries are on a mission to set the record for the world’s largest pot of jambalaya ever made.
It’s all happening at the Pelican in Ocean Springs on May 1st. Tickets are available for $10 a plate with all proceeds benefiting all seven of MGCCC’s food pantries.
Event Coordinator Carin Platt shares with News 25 what is in store for the big day and big pot of jambalaya. “It’s got to be over 3400 pounds so we want to go about 37 so we don’t have to do it twice. It’s going to be a lot. It includes 900 pounds of sausage, 900 pounds of ham, more than 620 pounds of rice so we’re going to have a lot of food. And we’re going to have the largest pot of jambalaya according to Guinness.”
If all that food and record breaking isn’t enough, eventgoers can also enjoy live music and a silent auction.
