MGCCC Baseball Preview

Not a single player on the Mississippi Gulf Coast baseball team has ever played a home game at the Perkinston campus. While that’s soon to change in the coming weeks, the Bulldogs once again start 2017 as the road warriors.
Ironic because their first ‘home’ game is set to be played at the home of the Warriors: D’Iberville High School. That Saturday double-header could be one of several twin-bills moved to an alternate location until work on MGCCC’s new stadium is complete.
As of now, there’s no definitive move-in date, but it appears as if those Diamond Dawgs won’t have to be homeless for much longer. MGCCC Baseball head Coach Rodney Batts said, “Well our guys, they know the situation. We see it every day at practice, so just in the end we know we’re going to be in a beautiful stadium. We know we’re going to be in it here pretty soon, so we’ve had to adjust our schedule a little bit.”
MGCCC Shortstop Sam Taylor said, “We’re really excited to be able to play in our own stadium for the first time. For the whole time since I’ve been here we’ve been under construction out there and we’ve been hearing all the equipment during practice and all that, so we’re just ready for the thing to be completely finished and have our fans out there cheering us on.”
The Bulldogs played all of last year’s home games at MGM Park in Biloxi.
