A Mexican national is accused of using a government credit card to buy building materials on the Coast.

Harrison County Sheriff Matt Haley said 46-year-old Juan Jesus Flores Cupdio has been charged with credit card fraud.

He was taken to the Harrison County jail and bond was set at $25,000. Border Patrol agents also have a hold on Cupido for immigration violations. He is not bondable because of the immigration hold.

The Sheriff’s Department began an investigation in May into the fraudulent use of a compromised government credit card. About $10,000 in building materials were bought at retail lumber stores in Waveland, D’Iberville and Mobile, Alabama.

Investigators identified Cupido as the suspect. He was located at a residence on Gulf Avenue in Gulfport and arrested.

Cupido also was found to be in the country illegally and had previously been deported.
