Merit Health donates to charity in name of staff for National Doctors Day
Today is National Doctors Day, a day designated to show appreciation for our physicians.
To celebrate this year, Merit Health Biloxi found a unique way to say thank you. Instead of purchasing gifts, they donated money to charity in honor of its medical staff.
Earlier this month, their physicians voted on which cause they wanted to donate to. They decided to help the people of Ukraine.
Today, they presented a check to the local chapter of the American Red Cross. They’ll be sending the donation overseas to their national chapter. Denise Smith with the American Red Cross said, “This shows exactly how amazing they are and the money they have given will go towards hygiene kits and wherever they are doing mental and medical health care.”
In countries neighboring Ukraine, the global Red Cross Network is working to provide emergency aid to people seeking safety and to improve conditions for those in harm’s way.
