Mercy Chefs provides food relief for Moss Point
A Virginia based non-profit is providing some tasty disaster relief in Jackson County.
‘Mercy Chefs’ is preparing meals for those impacted by the tornado that ripped through Moss Point on Monday.
Joel Cauley, the organization’s director for church partnerships, is a Moss Point native. Cauley said being in Moss Point is personal to him, having grown up here.
Yesterday evening, the chefs served meals to over 250 families in their first service. Today, the nonprofit says they will be feeding over 2,500 people.
Mercy Chefs offers high-quality, hand-crafted meals that include southwest chicken casserole, handmade chicken pot pies, and gourmet desserts.
Chef Gary LeBlanc says he is putting love in every meal. “When you have that opportunity to share a meal with someone that’s just had what could be the worst day of their life, it’s such a grand honor and opportunity to just bring comfort and hope and a little bit of compassion in a very bad situation.”
Mercy Chefs will be serving meals from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Riverfront Community Center and from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the parking lot between city hall and the rec center.
