Mental health tips for children
WXXV News 25 invited Gulfport Behavioral CEO Dean Doty to talk about mental health tips for children ahead of the school year.
Doty said one thing parents can do to prepare their kids for the school year is to prioritize self-care for themselves and their kids.
Another tip for parents is to start their students’ day in a peaceful manner and end their day in the same routine.
Parents are also encouraged to have open dialogue with their children so they will feel safe and comfortable speaking with an adult about problems they may be dealing with.
If parents would like to seek professional counseling for their child, you are urged to contact Gulfport Behavioral Health at 1-800-834-1700.
