Memorial’s emergency response teams are ready to serve
Memorial Hospital took necessary safety precautions to care for COVID patients as well as emergency patients brought in with injuries from Hurricane Ida.
For the next several days, Memorial’s staff and nurses are on standby, ready to help care for community members with emergent injuries from the storm.
Emergency response teams spend a lot of time preparing for hurricanes. Last night, Memorial stayed open, ready to serve the community no matter the conditions of the storm.
Minimal damage impacted the Memorial campus. The hospital took on some window leaks, broken ceiling tiles, and glass doors, but all repairs are set to be fixed. Memorial Hospital Chief Administrative Officer April LaFontaine said, “In light of the pandemic, we had to be extra cautious and prepared with our supplies, with the amount of staff that we had on hand to make sure that we could not only care for all of our patients, but especially our COVID patients in response to this emergency.”
Memorial reminds us to keep the streets clear so emergency vehicles and first responders can get to patients as quickly and safely as possible.
