Memorial Offering Free Flu Shots in Long Beach, Two More Free Clinics Scheduled

Health care officials are urging everyone to get vaccinated as we head into flu season. Memorial will be providing free flu shots at its Memorial Physician Clinic located on Beatline Road in Long Beach on Monday, September 30 from 9 am to 2 pm while supplies last.

Another round of free flu vaccinations will be offered in Jackson County on October 14th from 9 am to 2 pm at Memorial Digestive Health Center in Ocean Springs on October 14. Then, on November 2, you can go to Memorial Hospital located on Central Avenue in Wiggins to get a free flu shot from 10 am to 2 pm while supplies last.

The 2019 to 2020 flu season officially started Sunday and runs through mid-May. Doctors and health care providers tell News 25 the best way to protect yourself and your family from getting the flu is to get vaccinated. It takes about two weeks for the vaccine to go into effect, so there’s still time.

More than a dozen children, including at least one in Mississippi, died during last year’s flu season.

Children under the age of four have the highest rate of hospitalizations and are often the hardest-hit age group, although the elderly and those with weakened immune systems are also high risk groups.
