Memorial Hospital vaccine event

The team at Memorial Hospital continues to host pop-up COVID vaccination sites as the number of people receiving the vaccinations continues to rise.

The most recent pop-up event the team hosted was today at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Long Beach. The site was one of 32 pop-up events the hospital will host this month.

The teams says they are hosting these events to help give convenient access to the recipients. The pop-up sites began in January and saw thousands of patients a day.

The events saw a drop in patients in May, but attendance has been rising quickly since the new spike began.

The team already has multiple pop-ups planned for September as well. Memorial Hospital Population Health Manager Rachel Walker said, “We noticed in June there was a more need again for us to go back out and be in the community and offer these vaccines, and we’ve seen an increase in interest and that’s why we’ve started getting out in the community again, to start these pop-ups, that we are again making it convenient for the patients so that they will get the vaccine.”

The next public pop-up event will take place tomorrow at Orange Grove Medical Specialty Clinic in Gulfport from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
